The Jewish heritage tour
Join me on a profound walking tour through the heart of Berlin’s Jewish history — a journey spanning over 300 years, from early beginnings to a vibrant cultural presence.
We begin by tracing the path of Berlin’s early Jewish community in the Old Jewish Quarter. As we walk the historic streets and visit the site of Berlin’s first synagogue, we’ll uncover stories of growth, community, and cultural lifeFrom there,
we move into the Jewish Enlightenment — a time of extraordinary intellectual, artistic, and economic flourishing. We’ll visit sites that reflect this rich era and learn about the remarkable individuals who shaped Jewish life in Berlin and beyond.
Our journey also confronts the darkest chapter: the Holocaust. In solemn remembrance, we’ll visit Platform 17 — the site of deportations — and the Children’s Memorial, honoring lives that were taken too soon
We’ll also explore Berlin’s present-day Jewish life — diverse, dynamic, and once again part of the city’s cultural identity. From the restored New Synagogue to contemporary community spaces, this tour offers a meaningful look at both history and continuity.
Our tour will take us to:
The First Berlin Synagogue
The ancient Jewish cemetery
Platform 17
The Old Jewish Quarter
The area of Jewish courtyards
The children’s monument
The New Synagogue
And more…
